About Us
Hello and thanks for visiting our website! We are the Morrises (Fiona, Rohan, Eden & Jethro) and we’d love to show you around our farm.
We believe that a farm should be beautiful, healthy, welcoming and produce food ethically for its local community. A place where animals can live naturally and happily and the farmers care for the whole farm as a living ecosystem. We care for our soil and landscape using organic and holistic management principles and provide our community with nutritious and delicious healthy food direct from our farm. We have a deep love and connection to the Australian landscape and rural traditions, and enjoy sharing this with our visitors through our food, heritage and farm tours, camping and other farm events.
Come visit us on our working farm.
We are certified members of Naturally Farmed Granite Belt and our farm is inspected by the group yearly against the Australian Organic Standard for inputs and practices. For us, being organic, ethical, regenerative and holistic in our farming is not just a business, political or marketing decision but our way of life.
We sell direct to our customers at the farm gate or via our Community Supported Agriculture membership and our gates open daily so you can see exactly how our food is produced.
Rohan
Rohan is a 4th generation cattle farmer with a kind heart and an old soul. Rohan has a deep love of the land and the farming traditions of old and this has led him to manage the farm organically and regeneratively because he loves good food and it’s the ethical thing to do. Rohan is a registered Science/Sports (BSc App (Ed) Hons) and Outdoor Education teacher but prefers lived in the country, farming, gardening and disappearing into the bush with his Bullock Team. Rohan is the farm manager, head stockman and grass farmer, bullock driver, blacksmith, timber-getter, leather worker and all round amazing father and husband.
Fiona
Fiona is an Environmental Scientist now farmer and has worked, lectured and studied in the areas of landscape ecology, soil health farm planning, lecturing, climate adaptation research and sustainable agriculture projects. She is very passionate about protecting all aspects of the natural environment and believes in the inherent value of nature, not only for human survival, but for its own unique beauty and right to exist without blatant destruction. Having worked with farmers for many years to help them regenerate their land to fight climate change and make farming more sustainable, Fiona now uses her knowledge to help manage Gleneden, as well as being in charge of the orchard, vegetable garden, chooks, landscaping and practicing a range of homesteading skills including soapmaking, cheesemaking and breadmaking.
The kidlets
Eden May and Jethro James are 5th generation fit and healthy farm kids who both enjoy the freedom farm life can bring. Eden (12) is creative and enjoys painting, writing, exploring the farm with her dog and is now our official photographer! Jethro (9) enjoys showing the camping kids all the fun places they can play around the farm and makes his pocket money cutting wood for the campers.
Our Farm
Gleneden is a square mile of beautiful pasture, forest and flowing clear creek near Maryvale, on the edge of the Great Dividing Range 1.5hrs south-west of Brisbane. We are a small, family owned and run farm producing pastured meat the old-fashioned way – lovingly, organically and holistically using regenerative techniques to nourish our soil and nurture our animals. All our animals live outside on our nutritious diverse pastures and this goodness in our pasture and soil health is reflected in the quality of our produce. It’s rich in nutrients, and our products are free from artificial chemicals, preservatives, GMOs, nitrates, antibiotics, hormones and vaccines.
We purchased Gleneden in 2016 after managing Rohan’s family farm near Gayndah (which we also converted to organic), with the vision of creating a welcoming farm that produces healthy and delicious food in a way that heals the land, leaving it in better condition for generations to come. We manage organically and incorporate aspects of permaculture, biodynamics and holistic farming principles including holistic rotational grazing, no-till multi-species pasture cropping, solar energy, electric fencing, non-permanent water points, off stream water points, revegetation and rotational cropping to manage our farm as regeneratively and possible – but we are always learning and improving.
We are passionate about encouraging as many people as possible to join us on this exciting journey – by enjoying the delicious meat, camping and learning about our farm and rural traditions through workshops, tours or our internship program.
